Contargo expands battery-driven electric fleet to 90 trucks

Contargo has received 33 new electric battery-powered type DAF XD Electric semitrailer tractors from the manufacturer, thus reaching an important milestone on the way to decarbonisation. The vehicles have gone into service straight away at 15 locations in Germany. With the present count of 90 e-trucks in operation, the enterprise has now successfully realised all the e-truck projects approved under the KsNI funding guideline, while expansion of the charging infrastructure at individual locations continues.

Contargo participates in Cargo-Center-Graz Logistik

On 1 January 2026 Contargo took over 50 percent of the shares of Cargo-Center-Graz Logistik GmbH (CCGL). The partnership strengthens both sides: Contargo extends its network to include the Adriatic ports, while CCGL will be linked by rail in future to the Contargo network.

Jürgen Albersmann takes over the chairmanship of the UIRR

At its October meeting, the UIRR Board of Directors decided to implement the rotation principle for the Chairmanship of the industry association from 1 January 2026. After one and half years at the helm of the association, Michail Stahlhut, CEO of the Hupac Group, hands over the Chairmanship to Jürgen Albersmann, current Vice-Chairman and CEO of Contargo. Peter Kiss, CEO of Metrans, has been elected as the new Vice-Chairman. Michail Stahlhut remains active in the BoD.

New rail product: Straubing Nordhafen Shuttle bookable now

6 January 2026 sees the start of the first train of the Straubing Nordhafen Shuttle (SNS). This shuttle will connect the terminal in Straubing, Bavaria, with the German North Sea ports with a fixed schedule of three round trips per week initially. With the shuttle Contargo offers companies in the region a reliable and sustainable transport solution.

More Sustainable Transport Connections between Wörth am Rhein and Fernetti (Italy)

Due to increasing transport volumes and strong customer demand, VEGA Logistic has further expanded its intermodal automotive logistics services between Wörth am Rhein and Fernetti (near Trieste) in September. The Wörth–Fernetti service has been increased to three weekly round trips.
