Launch of the First Electric Trucks and Charging Infrastructure for Contargo North France

On June 8, the port authority Ports de l’Escaut, together with Contargo and in the presence of representatives from business and government, officially inaugurated a new charging station for electric trucks at the container terminal in Bruay-sur-l’Escaut. During the event, Contargo North France also presented Contargo’s first two electric trucks in France.

As the operator of the public port infrastructure in the Valenciennes area, the Syndicat Mixte Docks Seine Nord Europe / Escaut handles the transport of nearly 1.2 million tonnes of goods by inland waterways each year. By promoting inland shipping and multimodal transport, it helps reduce emissions in the transport sector while strengthening the competitiveness and economic attractiveness of one of the most highly industrialized regions in Hauts-de-France.

The Syndicat Mixte Docks Seine Nord Europe / Escaut invested in a charging station equipped with two charging points for electric heavy-duty vehicles directly at the entrance to the Bruay-sur-l’Escaut terminal, while Contargo acquired two fully electric Mercedes eActros trucks for container delivery.
