Contargo publishes containerLib as open source

Contargo is making an internally developed software component available to the logistics industry free of charge, demonstrating its commitment to the collaborative digitalisation of the sector. The Java library containerLib is now available as an open source solution in the Open Logistics Foundation Repository. Companies can use the library freely to process container numbers and lorry registration plates in a standardised way.

Launch of the First Electric Trucks and Charging Infrastructure for Contargo North France

On June 8, the port authority Ports de l’Escaut, together with Contargo and in the presence of representatives from business and government, officially inaugurated a new charging station for electric trucks at the container terminal in Bruay-sur-l’Escaut. During the event, Contargo North France also presented Contargo’s first two electric trucks in France.

Terminal development in Emmerich completed

Following the comprehensive infrastructure modernisation in the Port of Emmerich, on 11 May 2026 Contargo Rhein-Waal-Lippe officially accepted the recently installed container gantry crane. The investments were made by the port owner, Port Emmerich – Infrastruktur- und Immobiliengesellschaft mbH (PE). With this ceremony the development of the terminal, which took place over several years, is now complete for the time being.

Contargo expands battery-driven electric fleet to 90 trucks

Contargo has received 33 new electric battery-powered type DAF XD Electric semitrailer tractors from the manufacturer, thus reaching an important milestone on the way to decarbonisation. The vehicles have gone into service straight away at 15 locations in Germany. With the present count of 90 e-trucks in operation, the enterprise has now successfully realised all the e-truck projects approved under the KsNI funding guideline, while expansion of the charging infrastructure at individual locations continues.

Contargo takes over PortShuttle

As of 1 January 2026, Contargo has acquired PortShuttle Rotterdam, a wholly owned subsidiary of the Port of Rotterdam Authority (HbR) and a key player in the port’s rail freight operations. The company will continue to operate under the name PortShuttle.
