The price average ascertained by the Association of the German Petroleum Industry for Month A is the basis for calculating the Surcharge for Month C.
This means, for example, that when calculating the index for July 2012, the average price for the month of May will be taken as the basis.
The surcharge to be added to the price of delivery of a container by truck is based on the one-way distance and goes up every10 index points by the value of the Surcharge for Zone 1.
The "Verbraucherpreis Ct/Liter" (“consumer price ct/litre“) for diesel fuel shown on the internet https://en2x.de/service/statistiken/verbraucherpreise/ is the reference value for the following surcharges:

Example of a calculation: The transport of a container in June, with a one-way distance of 27 km and an average consumer price of 152.50 ct/liter (= Index 5) gives an energy surcharge of 7.50 Euro per truck delivery.
