On 1 September 2023, Contargo Road Logistics took over the Dutch transport company HE-Logistics B.V. With this move Contargo is further expanding its position in container direct trucking within the Benelux states.
Joint enterprise Contargo Combitrac Straubing-Sand will operate Straubing-Sand container terminal
A bidding consortium composed of container hinterland logistics network Contargo, SFI GmbH and the Ziegler Group has been successful in a Europe-wide call for tender for operation of the new bimodal container terminal in Straubing-Sand. On 30 August the bidders’ newly-founded joint enterprise, Contargo Combitrac Straubing-Sand GmbH, signed the business lease agreement for the terminal. The contract for terminal operation is expected to run from the second quarter of 2025.
On 1 August Contargo GmbH & Co. KG is reorganising its management team: Holger Bochow, who has occupied various executive positions in the enterprise for many years now, will be the fifth Managing Director of Contargo GmbH & Co. KG. His colleague Uwe Storch already joined the management team on 1 March. Thomas Löffler will be successively reducing his commitments.
Green supply chain “econtargo” gathers momentum: In a symbolic handover at the transport logistic in Munich, Contargo and Rhenus Trucking received a Volvo FH Electric truck from Volvo Trucks. This e-truck stands for a total of 15 vehicles of the same model that have already been delivered. As of now, they will enable Contargo to offer its customers throughout Germany a CO2e-reduced transport chain, formed by container transport by e-truck and rail, with trains driven by green electricity.
Our new offering: econtargo, the CO2-reduced transport chain
As of now, we offer our customers a CO2-reduced transport chain. By booking “econtargo”, customers will not purchase mere compensation. They will be buying a combination of last mile by e-truck and main run by rail, using trains powered by green electricity. This will also give our customers an opportunity to reduce their own CO2e footprint.
