Contargo Rhein-Main’s terminal in Koblenz has been extended, providing more space and additional capacities for trimodal handling.
Stadtwerke Koblenz, the operator of the port infrastructure, has invested in the extension of the container terminal. Among other measures, the area of the terminal has been enlarged by approximately 4,660 m² to around 21,000 m². This has created additional depot space for 1,000 TEU, meaning that a total of 4,200 TEU can now be accommodated.
Following the expansion, a length of 330 metres is now covered by cranes. The quay length has also been extended to 330 metres, enabling parallel work with two container bridges. In this way two barges can be handled at the same time. The extension also has positive impacts for rail transport, as container trains can now be processed more efficiently.
