Railway line interruption around Krefeld Central Station

During the night, a fire broke out at an electrical substation in Krefeld, causing train traffic around Krefeld Central Station to come to a standstill.

Among other effects, the fire led to a power outage on the Rheydt – Krefeld – Viersen – Venlo line. The railway line to the Netherlands has been closed since then. As a result, all trains to and from the Netherlands along this route have been stopped.

According to information from DB InfraGO, the disruption is expected to continue into the afternoon; however, the company has not provided a specific forecast.

This disruption has both direct and indirect effects on our trains. Even if operations resume in the afternoon, delays in all directions are to be expected due to the backlog. Since no practical emergency solutions are currently available, we unfortunately also have to expect cancellations.
