Delays at APM Maasvlakte II Terminal Due to Industrial Dispute

On Friday, 6 June 2025, container handling at the APM Maasvlakte II terminal in Rotterdam came to a temporary halt. The disruption was caused by ongoing collective bargaining negotiations between management and trade unions, which have so far failed to reach an agreement.

Talks between employees and management during shifts had already led to initial delays the previous day. On Friday morning, operations were suspended entirely for around an hour before resuming. The acceptance of empty containers remained limited at first due to full storage areas.

According to the terminal operator, efforts are being made to clear the backlog as quickly as possible. Further impacts on handling operations cannot currently be ruled out.
