On January 19, the launch of the data-sharing solution Connected Trade Network (CTN) took place in Rotterdam Pernis. In the presence of the Dutch Minister for Infrastructure and Water Management, Robert Tiemann, terminal operators Contargo, ITG, and Van Berkel Logistics, together with Portbase, signed the agreement.
The aim of CTN is to improve information exchange between seaports and the hinterland by connecting all logistics chain partners, enhancing transport safety and quality, and making logistics more efficient overall.
For Contargo, this is a crucial step: increasing transport volumes, limited resources, and the need for sustainable solutions make the efficient use of transport systems ever more important. Real-time data not only accompanies transports but, in the best case, can anticipate them.
Thijs van den Heuvel, COO of Contargo:
"As the Contargo Group, we handle large daily container volumes between the Port of Rotterdam and the hinterland. It is all the more important that more stakeholders join in so that we can create impact together."
CTN is part of the Digital Infrastructure Logistics (DIL) innovation program and is supported by the EU, the National Growth Fund, and industry stakeholders.
