6 January 2026 sees the start of the first train of the Straubing Nordhafen Shuttle (SNS). This shuttle will connect the terminal in Straubing, Bavaria, with the German North Sea ports with a fixed schedule of three round trips per week initially. With the shuttle Contargo offers companies in the region a reliable and sustainable transport solution.
The first train leaves Hamburg on 6 January. The Straubing Nordhafen Shuttle will then set out regularly from Hamburg on Sunday, Tuesday and Thursday, reaching Straubing on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday respectively. The new product will run all year round and bookings are being accepted now.
The Straubing Nordhafen Shuttle offers coordinated connections to Duisburg via the Contargo Terminal in Hof, and from Duisburg on to France, Belgium and the Netherlands.
The bimodal container terminal in the Port of Straubing Sand is operated by Contargo CombiTrac Straubing-Sand GmbH, a joint enterprise of Contargo with SFI GmbH, a subsidiary of the Schmid Group. Three rail sidings and 1,000 TEU storage capacity are in operation on a total area of 50,000 m2. Proximity to the A3 autobahn and state highway B20 ensures efficient links to the road network, and the terminal’s central position in Eastern Bavaria and the industrial area of Straubing Sand offers additional locational advantages.
