High Water in CW 50

Due to the combination of rain and snowmelt, flood forecasts for the Rhine are currently unreliable.

In all gauges along the Middle Rhine (from Bingen to Oberwinter), the water level has already risen above High Water Mark 1. A water level above High Water Mark 2 at the Bingen gauge is possible early Saturday morning.

Closure:

Maxau (stretch between Iffezheim – Germersheim) since 12.12.23, 9:30 a.m.

The following vessels are affected:

  • 391998 Contargo I - Currently in the port of Karlsruhe (upstream)
  • 392020 Gerard Albert II - Currently in Basel (downstream)
  • 392188 Ardito I+II – at present in Ludwigshafen (port of destination; Wörth/Karlsruhe)

 

Possible further closures:

Bingen (stretch between Eltville – Lorch)

Forecast Saturday 16.12

Gauge level – 4.77 m to 5.20 m – Mark II = 4,90 m

Maxau                         7.50 m

Kaub                           6.40 m

Koblenz                      6.50 m

Köln                            8.30 m

Duisburg Ruhrort        11.30 m
