Container Gantry Crane Installed in Gustavsburg

Following the move of the Contargo terminal from Mainz to Gustavsburg on September 10, the container gantry crane has now also arrived.

The modernised container gantry was dismantled a few days ago at the Zollhafen in Mainz and was transported by barge along the Rhine and Main rivers to Gustavsburg. On Monday a specialised firm commenced re-assembling the gantry at the new terminal, where business continued as usual. With the help of two heavy-duty cranes the individual elements were hoisted into position and made operational again by five mechanics and three electricians.

The terminal in Gustavsburg, with an area of 16,000 qm, has 250 qm of office premises, a quay 160 metres long and 20 reefer connections. Services include transport by barge and truck, the handling of standard and hazardous goods containers, reefers, and also heavy and oversized items. Contargo also provides transit storage, maintenance and repair as well as the sale and hire of containers. Special services include the loading /unloading of goods, including the installation/de-installation and disposal of inlets and flexitanks.
