Change of perspective – to the power of three
Communiqué de presse du 09/01/2019
Contargo publishes its third Sustainability Report
Mannheim, 27 February 2019 – The third Sustainability Report of the Contargo Group is now available in English and can be downloaded as of now from the enterprise’s website. The central theme of the present issue of the report is the change of perspective that is necessary in order to gain a complete picture of sustainability. The report has been prepared in accordance with the globally recognised guidelines of the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI Standards) and contains information on the sustainable activities of the container hinterland logistics network in the business years 2016/2017.
True to the enterprise’s watchword "Sustainability³ ", on a total of 112 pages Contargo considers important issues from an ecological, economic and social perspective and combines these into a complete picture. One new feature is the approach of first giving a basic global view, then "zooming in" on the developments taking place in Contargo’s immediate surroundings. Subsequently in a third step the report describes what is happening directly within the enterprise itself, the initiatives and projects being implemented at individual locations, and the contributions that individual employees can make to more sustainability.
"The special thing about this report is that we take an in-depth view and provide a great deal of background information. In this way we want to make it clear to our employees, customers and partners why sustainability is such a great priority for Contargo", says Sandra Hollweg of Contargo’s Sustainable Solutions department. "This aspect is so important to us that we do quite a lot more than is strictly required."
As well as the usual key figures relevant for the sector, such as CO2 calculations, the third Sustainability Report also contains numerous statements by Contargo employees from a wide range of companies and fields of activity. Contargo was supported in the preparation of the Sustainability Report 2018 not only by its own employees and locations, but also by selected universities.
"We worked with universities on projects addressing various topics. This opened up new perspectives for us and prevented us from just going round in circles“, says Sandra Hollweg, commenting on this approach.
The Contargo Sustainability Report is issued every two years and – for reasons of sustainability – is only available online. You can download the full Report from the Contargo website as a PDF: https://www.contargo.net/en/company/sustainability/
