How can companies reduce their carbon footprint?
Duisburg, 22 March 2016 - Contargo’s tariff calculator IMTIS calculates the CO2 emissions of truck, rail and barge transports
The Climate Conference in Paris resolved to keep global warming up to the year 2100 below two degrees. In order to achieve this objective, CO2 emissions in Europe are to be reduced by 40 percent by 2030. If this is to succeed, emissions in the area of transport will also have to be substantially reduced.
Contargo offers companies an effective instrument to reduce their carbon footprint: the free tariff calculator IMTIS. IMTIS predicts the CO2 emissions of a container transport using various transport modes. The system takes into account not only the CO2 emissions of the transport itself, but also energy expenditure in the course of fuel production and distribution, and the energy consumption of handling at the terminal and administration.
How great the differences are between the individual transport modes is clearly shown in the infographic attached to this email. For a more detailed report we will be happy to provide you with further information, a contact at Contargo and appropriate illustrative material.
With an annual transport volume of 2 million TEU, Contargo is one of the largest container logistics networks in Europe. Contargo integrates container transport between the western seaports, the German North Sea ports and the European hinterland. The enterprise has 25 container terminals at its disposal in Germany, France, Switzerland and the Czech Republic and maintains offices at seven additional locations in Germany, the Netherlands and Belgium. Contargo also operates its own barge and rail lines. In 2014 the workforce of 800 employees achieved a turnover of 410 million Euro.
