Arndt Puderbach celebrates 25 years of service with Contargo Coblenz
25 October 2011: On 1 October 1986, Arndt Puderbach began work as a qualified industrial manager at Combined Container Service, CCS, one of the forerunners of the present-day Contargo group. Born in Neuwied in the Rhineland Palatinate, Puderbach trained with a car dealer as a retail salesman and came to CCS from industry. In an intensive trainee programme, he was familiarised with the container logistics business. The 25-year-old very soon mastered the new field and half a year later he was entrusted with running the operations of the newly established Container Terminal in Coblenz. In his new occupation, Puderbach initially started out working as a “one man show” from an office container. The young man was at home in the region and developed good contacts with industry. The Coblenz Terminal quickly became an important nodal point in Contargo’s European network. Puderbach now has procura (proxy) and manages a workforce of 17 employees at Contargo Koblenz. Since 2004 he has also been in charge of operations at Contargo Aschaffenburg.
“Even though my tasks today no longer include sweeping out containers, my job is extremely varied and interesting. I have responsibility for financial results and personnel. I am also responsible – in both firms – for customer service, acquisition and developing new business,” states 50-year-old Puderbach. The ‘chemistry’ with his employer Contargo is good. Puderbach appreciates the relaxed forms of communication, the short, unbureaucratic paths to decision-making, but he also values his employer’s conscientious attitude to employees, customers, business partners, the environment and society.
Over the last 25 years Puderbach has taken intensive steps towards further qualification. Thus in 1994 he completed a two-year in-service course at the Koblenz Chamber of Commerce and Industry (IHK) qualifying as a Transport Administrator. In numerous seminars focusing on EDP, dangerous goods, sales, foreign languages and personnel management, Puderbach prepared himself to master the increasingly complex tasks in the business of international logistics.
The father of a daughter and two sons, he has been married for 21 years and lives with his family in Horhausen – near the village of Puderbach (!). When his many professional duties allow, Puderbach enjoys his favourite leisure pursuit of mountain biking in the Westerwald.
