Fast connections from Neuss and Frankfurt to Rotterdam

Contargo began the New Year with two new train products: as of 11 January the company now offers its own rail connections from Frankfurt am Main and from Neuss to Rotterdam.

The Rhine-Main-Rotterdam Shuttle serves the ECT, APMT1, Euromax and RSC Terminals in Rotterdam directly. There is also a possibility of accessing APMT2 and RWG, and further deep sea and short sea terminals. Initially the train is running twice weekly as an A-B connection between Rotterdam and Frankfurt. The train leaves Rotterdam every Monday and Thursday, and sets out in the opposite direction on Tuesdays and Fridays from the Contargo Terminal im Industriepark Höchst, Frankfurt am Main.

Marketing and customer service for the shuttle will be performed by the Rhine-Main working group consisting of Contargo Terminals Koblenz, Gustavsburg, Frankfurt-West and Frankfurt-Ost. The operator of the train is the Contargo Terminal in Industriepark Höchst, Frankfurt am Main. "The short transit time, its stability and its eco-friendliness speak for this product”, says Andreas Mager, Managing Director of Contargo Industriepark Frankfurt-Höchst GmbH.

From the Lower Rhine Region to the Seaport

At present the Neuss Multimodal Express (NME) departs twice a week from Rotterdam, on Mondays and Thursdays. On Tuesdays and Fridays the block train sets out from Neuss in the other direction. Contargo can increase the frequency to three round trips a week if demand is strong. In Rotterdam the train calls at the APMT 1, ECT Delta and Euromax terminals; in Neuss it arrives and departs from Contargo’s terminal in the Flosshafenstrasse.

“This rail product ideally complements our existing barge lines”, says Jürgen Albersmann, Managing Director of Contargo Neuss GmbH. “Particularly in times of flooding or low water the NME is an environmentally friendly alternative. The rail connection is also faster than the barge, so even where time-sensitive transports are concerned, it can help to free up the overcrowded autobahns in the Rhineland.”
