Looking Back at Logistics Day 2012
This year for the third time in succession, guided tours at Contargo terminals were offered to the interested public. In Duisburg the demand was so large that a fourth tour had to be arranged in addition to the three already offered. Participants come from a wide variety of sectors and population groups: interested visitors included school classes, trainees, professionals and senior citizens.
Following a theoretical introduction, logistics were presented in their concrete form: the programme included a tour of the terminal, with a wide variety of container types on view, and visits to the workshop and the reefer station. One special contrast highlight was provided by our partner firm Smith Holland. Especially for Logistics Day, they placed a reefer kept at -20°C on view right next to one kept at +30°C, giving a vivid idea of the full range of possibilities in temperature controlled transport.
As well as normal container handling, visitors had the opportunity for a close-up view of transfers with swap bodies and truck trailers.
To complete the visit there was a discussion round in which Contargo staff answered visitors’ questions and received some well-earned applause.
We look forward to taking part in next year’s Logistics Day and we would like to thank our visitors for the great interest they showed in our terminals!
