Zwijndrecht, 23 July 2020 – On 1 September 2020 Contargo will take over the activities of the Dutch company Barge Line Today. The asset deal covers the employees of the barge transport enterprise, as well as its customer relations.

“With Barge Line Today, Contargo can further expand its activities in the Benelux countries. The takeover enables us to make an interesting extension to our service portfolio, especially in the Rotterdam region”, says Marcel Hulsker, Co-Managing Director of Contargo GmbH & Co. KG.

Barge Line Today is an established provider of barge transports in the ARA Ports region. The portfolio includes daily scheduled interterminal container services in Rotterdam as well as other connections within the region, such as inland waterway transports to and from Dordrecht and Moerdijk. Like Contargo, Barge Line Today works with barge owner/operators and charter agreements, using barges with a load capacity up to 500 TEU or 5,000 metric tons per vessel.

Following the integration into Contargo, the activities of Barge Line Today will be merged with Contargo’s already-existing barge activities in Benelux under the trading name of Transbox.

Within Contargo Carsten Borchers, until now Managing Director of Barge Line Today, will become Managing Director of Contargo Trans-box in Belgium, and Managing Director of Contargo Network Service.
