Speeding through the night…

Press Release 29 Jun 2015

… the Strasbourg-Ortenau Express conveys containers smoothly to Rotterdam

On 25 June in Strasbourg, Contargo South loaded the 1,500th container onto the Strasbourg-Ortenau-Express (SOE). The cause for celebration, a 40' container belonging to a long term customer of Contargo SARL, travelled overnight to Rotterdam. Thus Contargo’s new rail product has definitely established itself.

“The 1,500th container on the SOE since the 8th calendar week of this year shows us that launching this additional product has been a good decision”, says Stefan Leijdekkers, Managing Director of Contargo Weil GmbH. “Our first fully autonomous trimodal offer in Strasbourg and the surrounding region is being very well received by our customers.”

The SOE connects all locations of Contargo South with the Euromax, Delta/APMT and RCT terminals. The trains depart from the Strasbourg Nord terminal on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday, with trains from Rotterdam arriving in Strasbourg on the same days of the week. In both directions the journey generally takes one day.

Contargo South (Contargo Süd) is an alliance of the three Contargo companies Contargo AG, Basel, Contargo Weil GmbH in Weil am Rhein, and Contargo SARL in Strasbourg and Ottmarsheim. Together they offer their customers in the border triangle flexible, comprehensive services for containers. The SOE is administered by Contargo Weil am Rhein GmbH, which also coordinates the bookings.
