New Name – Same Reliable Service
Press Release 18 Oct 2011
“F.I.T.” becomes “Contargo Industriepark Frankfurt – Höchst”
Duisburg, 7.11.2011: As of 01.10.2011, Frankfurt Intermodal Terminal (F.I.T.) – a joint venture of container logistics service provider Contargo and the chemical logistics experts Infraserv Logistics (ISL) – bears the new name “Contargo Industriepark Frankfurt-Höchst”. The new name is intended to highlight the situation as it already exists: the Frankfurt terminal is an integral part of Contargo’s European network of container terminals, and is embedded in the Höchst Industrial Park in Frankfurt am Main. For customers of the logistics service provider, this means that the tried and tested procedures and services of the network can be accessed from Frankfurt, too. And of course there are the added advantages of being located in the Industrie-Park, including storage facilities for dangerous goods, stuffing and stripping of containers, cleaning and repairs of ISO tank containers, etc.
The existing infrastructure and staff remain the same. Referring to the name change, Thomas Löffler, Managing Director of the Frankfurt terminal, says: “The new name is intended to show that the Rhine-Main area is an important location for Contargo. We want to make it clear to our customers that here, too, they can access the full range of services provided by our network, and can benefit from our extensive know-how in container logistics.” The outstanding competence of the Frankfurt personnel – apart from the planning of trimodal transports – is the handling and storage of dangerous goods and dangerous substances. Terminal Manager Andreas Mager explains: “Especially in these disciplines, the partnership with ISL is enormously important to us. In the course of many years’ cooperation, we have developed a perfect ‘symbiosis’ which enables us to achieve optimum implementation of processes at the Höchst Industrie-Park.”
The plant is authorised in compliance with the Federal German Immission Control Act (BImSchV) for the planned interim storage of all dangerous goods classes except 1, 4, 5 and 7, and for the handling of all dangerous goods classes except 1 and 7. Its operating history to date is completely incident-free. The Frankfurt terminal also has a Reefer Service Station where temperature controlled containers can be checked, and repairs carried out if necessary. Special services are also offered, including the storage of individual pallets, stuffing / stripping, assembling and sample testing, as well as tank cleaning and repairs, in cooperation with Infraserv Logistics (ISL) and Infraserv Höchst (ISH). Another terminal service frequently used by customers is the fitting of inliners in silo containers.
F.I.T. Frankfurt Intermodal Terminal GmbH & Co. KG was founded in 2004. Infraserv Logistics GmbH, Frankfurt am Main and Contargo Network Service GmbH & Co. KG, Ludwigshafen are equal partners in the enterprise. The ter-minal has an area of 46,000 m² and a depot capacity of approximately 1,800 TEU. There are scheduled barge connections three times a week to Rotterdam and twice a week to Antwerp. Since the middle of 2011, whole trains have also been operating regularly via the Rhine-Ruhr area to Antwerp and to Vienna/Sopron with gateway connections to Rumania, Greece and Turkey.
