UPDATE: Minimum Call Size in Antwerp

As of 1 September, a new lower limit now applies for container handlings at certain terminals (869, 913, 1700, 1718/1742), of 20 lifts per call (previously 30). At the same time the two terminals in the Port of Antwerp that until now were prepared to handle vessels with less than 20 containers for one destination are no longer functioning as hub terminals. This means that barges with less than 20 containers for the same terminal on board will now have to call instead at designated hubs on various inland waterways outside the port.

Since for Contargo it is not foreseeable in advance whether, or on what downstream departures, the required quantity will be reached, the situation may arise where we will have to use these hubs outside the Port of Antwerp. We will do everything possible to ensure that our customers’ containers are delivered punctually; however, after the point of delivery to the hub we no longer have any influence, because consolidation and further transport to the seaport are organised by the hub terminal. In these cases, we regret that we are not able to guarantee punctual delivery. #

As usual, our personnel will be glad to answer your questions or provide further information at any time.
