Contargo AG connects Basel with Antwerp
From 22 January 2019 Contargo is initiating a new direct connection, the Antwerp TriRegio Express, for container transports between Basel (Basel Bad. UBF) and Antwerp. As the product name Antwerp TriRegio Express already indicates, this train optimally serves the whole Border Triangle. From the station Basel Bad. UBF, customs formalities for containers leaving from, or destined for, the southern Baden region and Alsace can also be processed without difficulty. In future the train will make two round trips per week between the two destinations of Basel and Antwerp, departing in both directions on Mondays and Wednesdays.
The new connection is a useful complement to the existing barge and rail portfolios of Contargo. Thus Contargo provides rail links connecting all the important northern and western seaports of Hamburg/Bremerhaven, Rotterdam – and now Antwerp – with Basel. The Antwerp TriRegio Express is also a useful alternative when there are bottlenecks on the Rhine, for instance in case of low water, or when the Rhine is closed to navigation due to flooding. Contargo AG is now accepting bookings.
