Strike in the Port of Antwerp is over

The strike of pilots and rescue services of the Port of Antwerp directed against planned reforms and regulations in Belgium has finished, since Minister Homans and the trade unions managed to reach a compromise solution yesterday afternoon. Also the general strike planned for 21 September has been cancelled.

At present 30 ocean-going vessels are still waiting to enter Antwerp port, and so far three are not able to leave the port. The situation has improved slightly since the end of the strike.

However, longer waiting times will have to be expected for barges, too, due to the after-effects of the strike.

We ask for your understanding.
