Since 10:00 this morning the Rhine has been closed to navigation from the Maxau gauge upwards (from Germersheim up to Basel from 02:00 onwards). This section of the Rhine is expected to be closed to shipping until Sunday afternoon, 07.01.2018.

From the seaport up to Germersheim, High Water Mark 1 applies at present. This means that navigation is subject to a speed limit and that overtaking is not allowed. However, the water level is still rising.

Forecasts at present seem to indicate that High Water Mark II may be reached on this section of the Rhine tomorrow: when High Water Mark II is reached a total closure to navigation comes into force.

Due to this high water situation, we can unfortunately not guarantee to keep to the arrival times originally announced.
