UPDATE: Rail line closure between Karlsruhe and Offenburg

Since the repairs on the Rhine Valley line are expected to last until 7 October 2017 (Press release by the Deutsche Bahn (in German) here: we have chartered additional barges to ensure transport on the route to Basel.

However, in the last 7 days the gauge at Kaub has fallen by more than 40 cm. For this reason we cannot rule out the possibility that low water surcharges may have to be made at the end of this week. As the water level goes down, the load capacities of the barges used also become correspondingly smaller.

In addition to our BME (Basel Multimodal Express) via the route through France, which is already at full capacity for import this week, we hope to be able to offer you this connection twice a week in CW 36.

Re-routing via France along special routes increases the costs of our train production enormously, however. It will therefore be necessary to make a supplementary charge of EUR 125.00 p/TEU. Booking for export from Basel Bad UBF is still possible (please take note of the “free-time” in Basel Bad UBF as well as the regulation of storage fees). Your booking must include the words “BME-plus”.
