As announced, a barge from Emmerich is expected to reach Basel on Monday. It will then sail from there in the other direction and will be able to take on additional export cargo. Another barge from Duisburg to Basel is expected to arrive on Tuesday evening and will also be “turned around” for the export of containers. Each barge will be able to replace up to three trains. A couple connected barge is also on its way from Rotterdam.

In addition to these, we have planned in a fourth barge for the end of next week.

We are still examining the possibilities of a regular “water bridge” and of alternative rail routes.
