Closure of the rail line between Karlsruhe and Offenburg: Massive impacts on goods transport for Switzerland, Upper Rhine and Italy
Since Saturday, 12.08.2017 the rail line between Karlsruhe and Offenburg has been closed. The closure is expected to continue for the next two weeks. The reason for the closure is subsidence of the railroad bed caused by construction work on the new Rastatt tunnel. Thus an alternative route with sufficient capacity is unfortunately not available.
Our rail connections BME and ROCO are also affected by the closure. Thus until further notice we cannot accept bookings for these trains, nor can we guarantee the timely acceptance and delivery of containers. We have to disclaim any liability on the grounds of force majeure.
At present we are focusing all our efforts on putting together an alternative making use of barges and special trains within the Contargo trimodal container network. We will inform you as soon as we have arrived at a stable alternative.
