There have now been positive changes in the high water situation. The level at the Maxau Gauge is now down to High Water Mark I (620cm to 750cm). This means that a closure is no longer in force. The restrictions imposed on shipping at High Water Mark I are a speed limit and an overtaking ban.

Water levels in the Upper Rhine have also developed positively, and they are not expected to get any worse before the weekend.

The volume of shipping underway has now resulted in a kind of "traffic jam". We hope the situation will quickly improve.
