Road Toll from 01.04.2016 in Belgium

Three regions in Belgium – Flanders, Wallonia and Brussels – have jointly decided to reform their transport tax and introduce a road toll for trucks over 3.5 metric tons from 1 April 2016.

It is not truck ownership which will be taxed, but truck use.  The road toll is intended to enable infrastuctural costs to be realistically allocated, and also to allow environmental impacts to be an input into calculations.

The tariffs for the road toll will vary depending on the authorised laden weight of the truck, its EURO emission class, and the type of road being used.

The resulting costs will apply to all transports to and from Antwerp, and also to transports which pass through the relevant regions of Belgium, and we shall regretfully have to pass them on to our customers.
