Jan Schüring helps Contargo set standards in the market
Approximately 800 people work for Contargo, at 33 different locations in seven countries. In every newsletter we introduce you to one of them. Today we are profiling Jan Schüring. Since 1 July he has been working in a cross-cutting function involving the Sales, Controlling and IT departments of Contargo GmbH & Co KG in Mannheim.
Although Jan Schüring is only 23, he has already been working for Contargo since 2012. After his voluntary military service, he completed an integrated degree course (“Duales Studium”) with Contargo GmbH & Co. KG. The university graduate now occupies the position “Sales Projects & Controlling”.
Jan Schüring’s tasks include obtaining and processing information for his colleagues in Sales, as well as profitability analyses, processing calls to tender, and the development of new instruments for sales. Calculating selling prices, maintaining the Tariff Information System IMTIS, and participation in other IT projects, are also part of his remit.
Jan Schüring enjoys working at Contargo, because “the enterprise is still young, and as a result there are many exciting challenges.” He is especially committed to structuring prices fairly for the customers: “Because in the long term we can only set economic standards in the market by harmonising the needs of our customers and our own processes. I would like to make my contribution to this.”
After a long day in front of the computer screen, Jan Schüring likes to relax on country walks with his dog, a Labrador which he and his girlfriend acquired jointly several weeks ago. Having spent a semester abroad in Hong Kong, for his next trip Mr Schüring can well imagine sailing all the way to the port of Santos in Brazil on board a container ship.
