Employees at DIT Duisburg Intermodal Terminal GmbH have recently begun using the telephone platform of the open source software Asterisk (http://www.asterisk.org/).

For a long time now, Contargo has been engaged in the application and development of open source software. Open source solutions offer inexpensive, flexibly adaptable alternatives to complete in-house software development starting from scratch, or the purchase of ready-made “off the peg” systems.

Our priority criteria are remaining independent of the few software manufacturers who dominate the market, and ensuring compatibility with our customers’ systems.

The telephone platform has now also gone into operation at our sites in Mainz-Gustavsburg and Frankfurt, and it is planned to introduce it at other terminals in our network in the coming year.
