Wörth Invests in Sustainability

As of this month, Contargo Wörth-Karlsruhe GmbH is operating with two new reach stackers at its Wörth terminal. The machines are fitted with state-of-the-art engine technology (Euro Norm 6). The reach stackers also use the chemical AdBlue.

AdBlue is an aqueous urea solution which is used to reduce nitrogen oxides in the after-treatment of exhaust gases from diesel engines. This process is performed by a selective catalytic reduction (SCR) system. This technology ensures that fuel combustion is virtually residue-free, so that emissions of NOX nitrogen oxides during operation are greatly reduced.

A second measure for the concrete implementation of "Green logistics" at the Wörth Terminal is the changeover of the lighting system for the container gantry cranes to LED. Thanks to these measures, not only will CO2 emissions be cut from 72,792 kg to 11,016 kg per year, but there will also be energy savings of 86%.
