High Water on Rhine and Main - Shipping Activities Stopped
The high water situation in Germany has worsened. The critical High Water Mark was passed on the river Main at the weekend. Last night it was also exceeded on the Rhine. This morning at 5:00 am the water level at Kaub was 656 cm, which is above the second Water Mark, i.e. above the highest permitted level for inland navigation. This means that shipping activities have been stopped completely.
According to the present forecast, the water level will peak at 773 cm on 04. June 2013 at 17:00 pm. Thus it must be expected that at least up to and including 05. June 2013, shipping activities will not be able to recommence.
This situation is caused by force majeure and will result in closings not being kept to and deliveries not being carried out at the required dates. We ask for your understanding for the fact that we cannot accept any liability for this. The shipping operators and our colleagues are making every effort to organise alternatives (train connections, direct trucking).
If you have any questions our dispatchers for the affected areas and our Central Dispatch in Rotterdam will be glad to help:
