Weil am Rhein: Container terminal under a new flag
On 1.8.2021 Contargo Weil am Rhein GmbH successfully took over the container terminal in the port of Weil am Rhein. As we already announced, operation of the container terminal was transferred to Contargo in a public call for tender.
The integration of terminal operation in Weil am Rhein into the Contargo network opens up more possibilities for our customers, complementing Contargo’s existing offer of intermodal transport to and from the western and northern seaports by barge or rail – and of course including pre-carriage and on-carriage by truck in the region.
Terminal activities at the new location of Weil am Rhein will be successively complemented by professional repairs and other value-added services for containers. Thus our customers will benefit from direct “one-stop shopping” and efficient multifunctional solutions from one source.
This development means that the inland port of Weil am Rhein will continue as an important hub for container transport, and the economy of south Baden will profit just as much in future from this important transport node and its trimodal connections. Apart from the depot activities mentioned above, the main focus in future will be on the expansion of terminal activities.
