Information on the Corona Crisis
The measures to contain the pandemic are affecting all the countries in which Contargo works, and pose increasing challenges to national and international logistics. We are engaging in big efforts to be able to continue providing our services. In this, the protection of our colleagues, our service providers and our customers is our central concern.
Currently there are no suspected corona infections at Contargo (status 17.03.2020, 12:00). Employees who have noticed symptoms similar to Covid-19 in themselves, or in close relatives, are not allowed onto our business premises. Employees have been spatially separated wherever possible. They have also been asked to reduce personal contacts to a minimum. With a few exceptions, internal and external meetings as well as business trips have been banned and replaced by video and telephone conferences.
At the same time we have drastically increased our VPN capacities with additional servers, so so that wherever it is technically and operatively possible, our employees can work from Home Office. For this reason we would like you to re-arrange your communication with us if possible to take place completely by e-mail. Those of our industrial and administrative employees who are still on site are required to observe hygiene regulations.
Our service providers have also been sensitised to the topic of Covid-19 and are required to observe the hygiene regulations. Disinfectants are provided for them at our locations. Wherever it was structurally possible, we have implemented contactless handling.
From today’s view, the working capability of our trimodal container network is assured. A crisis team analyses the situation daily, and defines and coordinates the necessary measures as required. The continuously updated emergency plans for our locations include concepts which, in an extreme situation, will allow parts of the operations, or even all operations, to be taken over by a nearby location. The density of our trimodal container network is very useful in this respect.
In the case that one of our locations has to close, for containers that are on their way there we will make every effort to arrange routing via an alternative terminal and thus maintain the supply chains. For containers that are already at the affected location, we will try to find a solution in each individual case in cooperation with the authorities.
The information on this topic changes continually. The present information is based on the current state of knowledge. We follow the situation continually, and will inform you promptly of relevant changes.
If you have questions, your usual contacts on site will be pleased to help you.
