Additional trains between Basel and Rotterdam relieve the strained situation in inland navigation
Lateness of ocean-going ships, delays at the seaport terminals and low water levels on the Rhine are causing substantial bottlenecks along the most important route for pre-carriage and on-carriage of maritime transports for Switzerland and South Baden between Rotterdam and Basel.
For this reason, from CW 5 – in addition to the extra trains which have already been operating for two weeks – the ROCO shuttle (between Basel Bad UBF and Rotterdam) will be supported by two more departures, meaning that the shuttle will be making a total of five round trips per week. Departures from Basel Bad UBF (Weil) will be on Tu/We/Th/Fr/Sa. In this way we hope to reduce the storage costs to a minimum, particularly for export containers.
